40 leaders senior leaders Proton's CEO interviewed first

Proton will re-interview some employees between November 4 and 11 about how they use AI at work, according to an internal email obtained by 404 Media. CEO Andy Yen started the process by interviewing more than 40 senior leaders in engineering and product. Staff must bring concrete examples of how AI changed their work and what it produced, and an assessor from outside their team and reporting line will judge them. The email says the review may lead to changes in roles, responsibilities and continued employment. On Reddit, Proton said it is not doing layoffs, is hiring amid a talent shortage, and wants to find who needs support.

Alan's takeProton is asking employees to show their AI use and be graded by AI-savvy leaders from other teams, with jobs on the line. That may reveal who can perform AI adoption, but Meta already showed that people will game whatever you count. Leaders should start with the work instead: which tasks in each role should change? Then ask whether they did.
